We care about the environment

We are aware of that a lot of electricity is consumed when all our users log in to edit their websites and that our servers which hosts our many thousands of mono sites also use much electricity. We have therefore chosen to participate in a Danish climate initiative, which means that we have made our website and its usage CO2 neutral. The initiative originates from the knowledge that Internet and use of computers today cause more CO2 emissions than aviation due to the large electricity consumption. The initiative is administrated by CO2neutralwebsite.com, based in Science Park in Aarhus, Denmark. Companies participating in the initiative neutralize their carbon dioxide emissions by buying CO2 quotas that is certified and cleared by state authorities in the EU. CO2neutralwebsite is also involved in the development of new and renewable energy sources (eg. windmills).

Besides CO2 neutralization of our website, we have optimized all mono websites and our server set-up so that we can have many more hosted sites than a traditional web hosting service. All mono websites are super optimized in terms of the space availability, the way content is displayed and the underlying data structure. Since it is only possible to upload files via mono's website tool all files are optimized for the web. This ensures optimal viewing of content and use of our website tool. It also means that we can house many more websites on one server.

On average each mono website use 0.0075 watt incl. backup, which represents 0.00034% power use of an ordinary electric kettle. In other words, our entire server setup use less power than a single electric kettle.
